Proposing to a loved one many would agree is a task in which even the bravest of hearts falter. The mere thought of it is enough to sent shivers down the spine and make one go weak in the knees. But then again, love makes one do things which are borderline crazy, and proposing is only the beginning.

The ambience that one selects for this nerve-wrecking deed is of undeniable importance and would have been the first rule had anyone taken the pain in authoring a guidebook on ‘The 10 Golden Rules of a Fruitful Proposal’. But not everyone adheres to rules and regulations. I know of people who have proposed to their loved one in the smelly recovery room of a general hospital right after undergoing a hernia operation, or in the movie theatre just when the killer was about to be revealed. Whether the proposals bore fruit or not is an altogether different and rather complicated story and best that we not go into it. I also know of people who have proposed in cars, both moving and stationary, and on one occasion coming perilously close to running over a rotund Kolkata traffic police constable in the process. Why in a car of all the places many would ask, it’s so unromantic a setting girls would scream. And moreover, it’s a pain negotiating the traffic, let alone negotiating a minefield of emotions, fear and apprehension at the same time before popping the question. But you will be surprised to know how many people are guilty of doing so. Are you one of them too?
